His copy of NORAD’s own Sept. 18, 2001 news release - available online at www.willthomas.net - shows that interceptors launched late from distant bases to defend the US east coast flew at one-quarter to one-third their top speeds…while nearby fighters already in the air three-minutes from Manhattan were never ordered to intervene.

Why were two “ready alert” anti-terrorist jets routinely flown from Andrews Air Force Base to check out errant airliners never launched to guard the Pentagon just 10 miles away? Why could none of the named Islamic suicide pilots fly even a sedate Cessna? Why did FL 93 come down in two places in Pennsylvania? Who ordered a national air defense drill that morning that pointed US defenders looking north over the Pole for a nonexistent Soviet threat?
